Christmas time is a time
of giving. When we think about Christmas, it usually involves some
type of presents. We sit around the living room exchanging gifts with
our loved ones, we hand out our secret santa gifts to those at our
work, or we give outside of our family and friends to Operation
Christmas Child, to our angel trees, or our gift of time to the local
mission. But, as we think about the
physical presents we receive, we also need to remember the greatest
gift that was given...Jesus! He is the most generous gift given to
us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He GAVE His
only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.” God loved us so much that He GAVE us
Jesus. It's a gift like no other. Jesus gave up His heavenly home to
come down to earth, to be born as the most perfect and priceless
gift! He took off his heavenly robe, put on our wretched sins so that
we could have the opportunity to be saved, forgiven, and to live with
Him someday. His gift was one of kind! The act of the gift could
not be returned or exchanged, but we can choose whether or not to
accept that gift. As we buy gifts for all of our dear family and
friends this Christmas, let's remember the true gift; the gift of
Jesus and His presence on earth more than 2000 years ago. I am so
thankful for that precious gift. Jesus really is the reason for the
season!
